Citrix, Microsoft, Novell and Redhat ganging up on VMware: XenServer 5 Free?
Posted by: | CommentsAccording to this Computerworld blog, Citrix is about to give away XenServer 5 and the new management tools will manage Hyper-V and the open source Xen hypervisors.
If that’s the case, it should make things interesting.
I travel a lot, so I’m always on the lookout for ways to make sure I can stay entertained while waiting for meetings, travel or just decompressing. At home, I have had some kind of DVR, (MythTV, Tivo, etc) that allows me to watch what I want whenever I want. I had MythTV and really liked it and would recommend it to anyone with an old machine and a video capture card. My MythTV machine was an older box that was too noisy to stay in our living room, so it had to go.

Serious DNS vulnerability
Posted by: | CommentsI do not know if you have heard about the DNS vulnerability that is affecting a bunch of commercial vendors (Including Microsoft and BIND which are some of the most popular), there is a lot of panic in the Internet community since yesterday when more details were reveled, do not get surprised if there is a new worm with an exploit very soon.

Sub $500 Notebook Easy Ubuntu 8.04 Installation
Posted by: | CommentsI found that my sub-$500 notebook, the Acer Extensa 4420 is fully supported with Ubuntu 8.04. A quick install and it’s up and running quite smoothly. I even got my Sprint card working with it with a little tweaking.
